Hounds Run is located in Western Victoria at the foothills of the Grampians (Gariwerd) National Park. If you are travelling from Melbourne, take the M8 Western Freeway towards Adelaide until you reach the township of Great Western, approximately 2 1/2 hours. Take a left at the Moyston-Great Western Road and follow it for approx. 4km then turn right at Sugarloaf Road. Follow the road around to the right and drive for approx. 6 km until you reach our gate which will be on the left and is also home to our sister wine label Black & Ginger Wines.

Hounds Run Vineyard is a 30 minute drive from Ararat which has the closest V-Line train station and is also 10km drive from the main township of Great Western, much of which is a gravel road, so a car is essential for getting around. There are plenty of kangaroos around, so we advise taking great care on the gravel to ensure safe arrival. The Grampians National Park (just 40 minutes drive) is home to some of the best hiking in Australia with spectacular waterfalls, views and walks for a range of difficulties.

Great Western is an historically rich wine making region which has long been the home of Best’s Wines and Seppelt Wines both established in the 1860's. A short drive from our vineyard, in Pomonal, guests are invited to visit The Black & Ginger Wine Shed, our cellar door. Open Thursday to Sunday 12-6pm, we offer wine tastings and bottle sales. Lunch is available from Barney's next door Friday - Sunday.
